Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai is a 1990 Indian Hindi action film co-written, produced and directed by Rajkumar Kohli. It was scheduled to release on 20 January 1990 but released one day earlier on 19 January. The movie was declared a hit at the box office, grossing Rs.1.5 crores in India alone, equivalent to $2 million in 1990 US dollars, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of that year.The story revolves around Raju (Sanjay Dutt), who falls in love with Geeta (Asha Parekh) when they are young kids but are separated when their parents are killed by Thakral's men. Raju is brought up by his father's best friend Rai Saheb (Farida Jalal), while Geeta has her late mother's necklace that they both made when they were kids.Years later, when Raju and Geeta meet again, Thakral (Amrish Puri) wants them dead because of the necklace. The film has 6 songs composed by Anand-Milind, with lyrics written by Sameer. The song "Aas Paas Ho Tum" is an evergreen hit track of the movie sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy. The film was also remade in Telugu as "Muthina Vaakitlo Sirimaallu" (1990), with Rajkumar and Anjali in lead roles, and in Kannada as "Annayya" (1990), with Ravichandran and Vishesh in lead roles. The film has not been released on DVD or VCD, but was available on video cassette until 2005. It was made available for viewing on YouTube in 2011.
